Unity Village (Homes Now/Not Later)
A temporary neighbor from August 28, 2019  through April 30, 2020

Dear Friends,  I write to you today on behalf of Homes Now! Not Later.  We are an organization dedicated to ending homelessness one person at a time.
We would like to invite you and your family to the grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for Unity Village--a tiny home community comprised of 22 tiny homes. These homes will provide safe housing for up to 30 members of our Bellingham and Whatcom county homeless community.
We would appreciate the opportunity to share this milestone with you.
HomesNOW is staffed entirely by volunteers, and Unity Village is a product of the vision, dedication, and dogged optimism of those volunteers. Please visit our website www.homesnow.org for more information on the history of HomesNOW, the logistics of the Unity Village community, and our vision for the future.
At HomesNOW we adhere to the guiding principle that prioritizing a safe place to stay and a sense of community is a critical initial step in the process of navigating oneself out of homelessness.
We understand that in order to seek employment, find permanent housing solutions, and reintegrate into the community, it is imperative to first remove the onerous barriers a homeless person faces each day. Where can I safely sleep tonight? How do I protect the things I carry with me?
With Unity Village, a safe home comes first, removing that barrier, easing that oppressive worry. Now, there is room and reason for hope.
Please consider adding your powerful voice to the chorus of support and join us on Saturday, September 14th.
Unity Village is located at 210 McKenzie Ave. Bellingham, WA. We will gather and socialize at 12:30, with the ribbon cutting to take place at 1:00. We welcome Lummi Elder Xwelxwelat’se who will offer a blessing and song.
Sincerely,Jim Peterson | President Homes NOW! Not Later
